The student should have the ability to;

• Explain the social and engineering relevance of the study of Hydrology.
• Give the basic mass balance of a water budget. Explain the differences in mass balances based on the scale of the control area (global or local).
• Relate the units used in Hydrology and convert from one unit system to another.
• Use a spreadsheet for Hydrologic calculations.
• Apply mathematical techniques such as Simpson's rule and algebra to solve basic Hydrology problems.
• Understand how the science of meteorology relates to Hydrology.
• Explain the significance of computational aids such as computer programs to the study of Hydrology.
• Write a mass balance to relate the Hydrologic Cycle and apply this mass balance to simple problems. Describe each term in the Hydrologic cycle.
