Hydrology Assignment 5C
Determination of Time of Concentration
OBJECTIVE
-
- To demonstrate the use of TR-55 methodology and other methods in the
determination of time of concentration.
- Comparison of different methods for the determination of time of
concentration.
EQUIPMENT
TCCALC and SMADA Computer
Programs, Scale, USGS Topography map.
PROCEDURE
- Find a suitable USGS Topographical Map and select a closed watershed
area. Delineate the boundaries of the watershed. It would be advisable
to have about 3 copies of your watershed (to account for mistakes made in
the delineation). Be sure to also make a copy of the scale at the bottom of
the watershed map.
- Using the topographic data and land cover data to estimate the time of concentration
for the delineated watershed. You should use the TR-55 methodology as outlined
in Chapter 3 of TR-55.
OUTPUT
Your output should contain the following;
- Copy of the watershed containing delineations. Delineations can be
using a highlighter or a colored pencil. The flow path chosen for the time
of concentration calculations should also be shown. Be sure to delineate
all watershed requested by your instructor.
- The output of the TR-55 portion of the Time of Concentration calculator
program with your input.
DATA
You can choose from the following watersheds or use your own USGS TOPO
