Syllabus
| DEFINITION: | Hydrology is a study of the waters of the earth, their distribution, characteristics and effects. | ||||||||
| OBJECTIVE: | To increase knowledge on the application of hydrology, fluid mechanics, computer and engineering principles to water resources problems. The economics and engineering of systems for design, control, utilization of water resources is stressed. Specific attention is given to comprehensive water designs and stormwater management. | ||||||||
| CREDIT: | Three (3) semester hours (2 lecture hours; 1 laboratory hour) | ||||||||
| FACULTY: |
Mr. Jeff Earhart, P.E. | ||||||||
| PROCEDURE: | Material will be covered by lectures, not necessarily restricted to the text and handouts. Attendees are expected to read the text and/or other assignments thoroughly. | ||||||||
| PERFORMANCE EVALUATION: | Exams are scheduled on the course schedule. Material covered on the tests will include handouts, lecture notes, outside readings, and laboratories. All work must be your own. First offense for work that is not your own or cheating of any type will be a grade of "F" for the particular infraction. Second offense for work that is not your own or cheating of any type will be a final course grade of "F." | ||||||||
| |||||||||
| The plus(+)/minus(-) system of grading will be used when assigning final grades. Note: Failure to complete all laboratory assignments will result in a failing grade for the entire course. | |||||||||
| ABSENCE AT LABS/TESTS: | If absent, it is the student's responsibility to contact the instructor before the exam/lab regarding make-up or a grade of "0" will be assigned for that exam/lab. | ||||||||

| GOLDEN RULE: | All students should read and abide by the UCF Golden Rule (http://www.goldenrule.sdes.ucf.edu/). | ||||||||
| TEXT: | Hydrology: Water Quantity and Quality Control, Second Edition M. Wanielista, R. Kersten, and R. Eaglin J. Wiley & Sons, 1997 | ||||||||
| SUPPLEMENTAL TEXTS: |
